Who could resist? ![]() Let’s say you’re looking for a place to hunt turkeys, and you find a town in Texas called Turkey that was once called Turkey Roost, and it’s on the banks of Turkey Creek. Who could resist? It’s rugged country on the Rolling Plains, but ideal habitat for Rio Grande turkeys. They roost in the cottonwoods along the river, and we scouted and called and then called some more. It isn’t easy hunting, but if it were, what’s the point? In this part of Texas, Bob Wills is still the King, but taking such regal birds in such magnificent country makes you feel at least a little royal. |
