Summertime Ducks

“My health is better in November,” is how Havilah Babcock put it back in 1947. And no wonder: It’s duck season—the most wonderful time of the year no matter what the Christmas carol says.

And so it’s logical to assume that duck hunters view the summer doldrums as the least wonderful time of the year. Nothing to
do but paint those decoys, load those shells, remember last season and wait for the next.

Or maybe next summer you could fly to Argentina.

Hook up with an eager Lab, a good guide, a gourd of mate, and endless flights of speckled teal and rosy-billed pochards.
Maybe next year will be a summer to remember.
