Iceland’s Big Laxá River. Starkly reposeful country. Healthy runs of Atlantic salmon increasing year by year.

Average size some days running 17 pounds. For serious salmon-heads, near the head of the must-go list.

Conservation works. Restoration works. It happened on the Big Laxá, and it can happen elsewhere. All it takes is time, money, perseverance, and a belief that catching and releasing fish like this one is worth it.
